Virginia Holland Abshire, 92, of Kenney, IL passed away at 7:10 AM, February 28, 2019 at Heritage Health, Bloomington, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Kenney Civic League or the Kenney United Methodist Church.

Virginia was born September 29, 1926 in Kenney, IL the daughter of Raymond and Vera (Rung) Wene.  She married Presly Holland May 10, 1947 in Kenney, IL.  He passed away February 7, 1977.  She later married Donald Abshire September 16, 1978 at Funks Grove.  He passed away July 12, 2009.

 

Survivors include her children:  Bonnie (Vic) Buraglio, Champaign, IL; Dan (Mary) Holland, Kenney, IL; and Peggy Haycraft, Normal, IL; 6 grandchildren:  Jeff, Mark, Rae, Crystal, John, and Matt; and 2 great-grandchildren:  Jordyn and Ethan.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Thomas Wene.

 

Virginia loved Kenney, IL and served on the Kenney Village Board for 25 years.  She was a lifelong member of the Kenney United Methodist Church where she played the organ.  She was a dedicated farm wife and loved to ride her bicycle. She never knew a stranger and was loved by everyone.
