Steven Charles Ladage

Steven Charles Ladage, 57, of Heyworth, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2019) at his home. He was surrounded by loved ones following a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

 

Steve was born Dec. 20, 1961, in Springfield, to Charles and Sylvia Shadwell Ladage. He married Kjarsti Sapp on June 7, 2008, in LeRoy.

 

He is survived by his wife, Kjarsti, and five children, John (Jenae) Ladage, Ivensdale; Jane (Kevin) Kauffman, Bloomington; Rebecca (Mitch) Nelson, Normal; Daniel (Peggy) Ladage, Bloomington; and Charlotte “Charlie” Ladage, at home; as well as two grandchildren, Levi Kauffman and Ava Ladage. He is also survived by two sisters, Pam Mendenhall, Springfield, and Cheryl (Bob) Giacomini, New Berlin; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marjorie and Don Sapp, Atlanta; two brothers-in-law, Rob (Tracy) Sapp, Goodfield, and Ben (Wendy) Sapp, Sherman; one aunt, Wanda Ladage, Chatham; one uncle, Duane (Joyce) Shadwell, Effingham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all who loved Steve.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Annabelle Ladage.

 

In 1991, Steve began working for Cornerstone Construction. He was dedicated to his career and in 1999 became the owner. He and Kjarsti worked very hard and took great pride in that business.

 

He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Among his hobbies, Steve enjoyed the outdoors, collecting and shooting his guns, and was never short of camouflage clothing.

 

Steve was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington.

 

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Pastor Chad Sparks will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home. Interment will be in Randolph Township Cemetery, Heyworth. Memorial contributions may be made to Covell Community Church or Compass Church in Normal.
