Dorothy Mae Cable, 84, of Monticello, passed away at 8:35 p.m., February 15, 2019 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.

 

Dorothy was born on March 6, 1934 in Heming, IL the daughter of Otis Wilbur and Ruby (Matthews) Clapp. She married Wayne E. Cable on August 30, 1952 in Blue Mound, IL. He passed away June 18, 1997.

 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Bob Cable, Jerry Cable, Melanie (Terry) Wiegal, and Angie (Ed) Rollins; granddaughter, Stephanie (Brett) Barton; great-grandchildren, Dustin Wiegal, Hunter and Shelby Barton; and brother, Bob Clapp. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband.

 

Dorothy was a CNA at Kirby Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening along with tending to her aquariums and fish pond.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Monticello Township Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
