Judith "Judy" Cox

Judith “Judy” Cox, 75 of Westville, IL formerly of DeLand, IL passed away 10:28 AM February 13, 2019 at her home.

 

A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be 11 AM, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with Lana Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Cemetery, DeLand, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Judy Cox Memorial Fund or the DeLand American Legion Post #102.

 

Judy was born October 27, 1943, in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Eakin) Arbuckle. She married Harley “Pete” Cox, Sr. August 12, 1977. He passed away February 10, 1995.

 

Survivors include her mother, Ruth Sims, Tuscola, IL; children: Earl L. (Jennifer) Burton, Jr., Lithia, FL; Michael (Liz) Burton, Hubert, N.C.; and Tonya Roy, Bloomington, IL; 5 grandsons; and brother, Russell (Colleen) Arbuckle, Sonoita, AZ; Special Friends: Karen Colmer, Lana and Don Dyer, Nancy and Dewey Howard, John and Barb Cain, Rindie, Joel, and Adam Ripper, care-taker Brandi Mills, and many others who were a part of Judy’s life on earth and Transition Hospice. 

 

She was preceded in death by her father, 3 stillborn children, and special friend, L.R.

 

Judy was a C.N.A. in the Alzheimer’s Wing at the Piatt Co. Nursing Home. She later became a truck driver for 12 years with Transport America where she received the One Million Mile Safe Driving Award from the American Trucking Association in 2006. Judy helped establish the E.S.D.A. and Tornado Siren at DeLand, IL. She was a life member of the DeLand Legion Auxiliary Unit #102, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Danville, IL as well as a Life Member of OOIDA, Volunteer Faith in Action, South Westville, IL and the Westville Sportsman’s Club.
