Howard D. Glawe

Howard D. Glawe, 93, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 1:20 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2019, at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello, Illinois. 

 

A joint memorial service for Frances L. & Howard D. Glawe will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Faith in Action, Monticello, Illinois.

 

Howard was born March 31, 1925, in Volga, South Dakota, a son of Clarence E. & Clara R. French Glawe. He married Frances L. Wood on June 8, 1952, in Cairo, Illinois. She passed away November 3, 2018.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Colleen Manuel of Farmer City, Illinois; son, Curtis (Julie) Glawe of Farmer City, Illinois; three grandchildren, Aaron (Kamie) Manuel of Mahomet, Illinois, Andrea (Adam) Weedman of Farmer City, Illinois and Molly (Andrew) Schneman of Farmer City, Illinois; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elnor H. Ruch of Farmer City, Illinois and C. Marleen Williams of Clinton, Illinois. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

 

Howard was a retired farmer. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

 

Howard was a member of the Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was an Elder of the church; past president of the DeWitt County Board; past president of the Dewitt County Farm Bureau; served on the John Warner Hospital Board; served on the DeWitt and Macon County Corn Belt FS Board; and a member of the Farmer City Kiwanis Club.
