Shirley A. Turner, 82, of Monticello, passed away at 2:57 a.m., February 10, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

 

Shirley was born on January 8, 1937 in Monticello, the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Willis) Meece. She married Dale R. Turner on January 20, 1956, in Monticello.

 

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dale Turner of Monticello; children, Gary Turner (Andrea) of Cisco, Carla Taylor (Wes) of Monticello, Janet Warnick of Monticello, Mike Turner (Joy) of Bement; grandchildren, Courtney Berning (Ed), Derek Taylor, Caroline Turner, Audrey Bohannon (Nathan), Zeb Turner, Wyatt Turner; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Berning, Bridget Berning, Gwendolyn Turner; and sister Sondra Harris of Morris, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, 1 sister, and son-in-law Scott Warnick.

 

Shirley worked many years for Dr. Bruce Wintersteen DDS. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, the Kirby Auxiliary, and volunteered with the Senior Center Meals on Wheels. Shirley loved to cook, feeding whomever stopped by, and she loved to travel with Dale.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m-12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Sweet officiating. Interment will follow in Monticello Township Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home of Senior Center Meals on Wheels.
