Priscilla Ann Shirley Rademaker

Priscilla Ann Shirley Rademaker, 88 of Springfield, died Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield.

 

She was born September 12, 1930, daughter of Larkin Lowell Shirley and Matilda Behrends Shirley. She was born on the Shirley family farm near Hartsburg, which had been deeded to the Shirley family by the U.S. Government during the Millard Fillmore presidency.

 

On May 30, 1954, she married Dean B. Rademaker at the Christian Church in Hartsburg, Illinois. She was baptized at the Hartsburg Christian Church and attended Lone Tree and Pleasant Hill rural schools. In 1948, she graduated from Hartsburg High School. After graduation, she became an assistant to the Logan County Clerk, then at Lehn and Fink Clerical, and then as the Assistant Cass County Clerk. After her children were finished with school, she worked for twenty-five years at Franklin Life Insurance before retiring. 

 

Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents, Estel and Virginia Embree, niece LaVera Alberts and nephews Lowell Shirley, Darrell Klockenga and Gary Rademaker.

 

She is survived by her husband, children Ronda (Dave) Handy of Ashland, Rod (Jill) Rademaker of Oakford, granddaughters Monica (Dusty) Handy Cookson of Dodge City, Ks, and Rhiannon Rademaker of Oakford, grandsons Duran (Mackenzie) Rademaker, Dusty (Stacey) Rademaker, both of Petersburg, Brad (Kyra Gwaltney) Handy of Ashland and Caleb Handy of Winchester. She also is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Clara, Conleigh and Callie Cookson of Dodge City, Ks and Bree Dougherty, Chyler Rademaker and Coyt Rademaker of Petersburg.

 

She is also survived by her sister, Jenny Lou Boughan and her brother Allen Dean (Luella) Shirley, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 01, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the services (1:00-2:00pm) also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.

 

Memorial donations may be made in Priscilla’s name to Hartsburg Christian Church or St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden, IL.
