Jean was born Nov. 10, 1932 in rural Dewitt County, the daughter of Elmer and Minnie (Jones) Gehlbach. She married Allison Perring, Jr. on Dec. 20, 1950, in Waynesville. He passed on September 27, 2017.

She is survived by children, David Perring, Lincoln; Steve (Lee Ann) Perring, Weldon; and Kathy (Ted) Parge of Sugar Grove; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allison, sisters Patricia, Dolores, brother Elmer Jr. and an infant brother.

Jean was a devoted partner with her late husband Al and she lived her life as a quiet role model for all whom she touched. Her steadfast commitment to faith, family and farming provided her with the experiences and wisdom that was sought after by many and that she generously shared.

In addition to being the consummate farm wife/partner, she attended Parkland College, held professional positions as a bookkeeper and was always actively engaged in numerous church and community activities while a resident of Towanda, Weldon and Clinton. She was an avid reader and genealogy researcher that led her to membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served as Nixon Township Clerk and as a Clintonia Township Trustee.

Never one to pass on “parlaying a lucky lottery ticket”, we will always celebrate the laughter and wisdom of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will have a lasting impact on family and friends for years to come.
