Helen Hope (Higgins) Shelton 92 of Maroa, IL passed away 4:20 A.M. November 17, 2018 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.

 

Helen was born April 18, 1926 in Rural Macon County, IL the daughter of Byron W. and Effie (Davis) Higgins. She married Billie M. Shelton 1946 in Moultrie County, IL.

 

Survivors include her sons, Roger (Toni) Shelton, Southaven, MS; Philip (Cathy Shull) Shelton, Elkhart, IL; grandchildren: Amy (Dan) Runaas, Suwanee, GA; Bradley (Chelsea) Shelton, Woodbury, MN; Kara Kirby, Darien, IL; and Brandon (Jaime Binkley) Kirby, Maroa, IL; 5 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, John Herbert Higgins, Hugh Lewis Higgins and 1 sister, Hazel Ozier.

 

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and the Dr. John Warner Hospital Auxiliary. Helen was Salutatorian of the Lovington High School Class of 1943.

 

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
