Bettie J. Turner, 93, of Atlanta, passed away Monday (Nov. 5, 2018) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

 

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Burial will follow in the Atlanta Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Bettie Jean Menzel was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Lawndale, the daughter of Donald C. and Nelva Wise Menzel. She married Don Turner on Aug. 18, 1946, in Atlanta. He survives.

 

Bettie is also survived by their daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Smith, Susan Turner, Sheryl (Joe) Kaul and Sally (Gary) McGinnis; three grandchildren, Lora (Matt) Puckett, Scott Smith and Sarah Kaul; three adopted grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Smith; one brother, Donald C. Menzel Jr.; and special niece, Betsy Kindred Shifflet.

 

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Donna Jo Turner; one sister, Juanita Kindred; and her parents.

 

Bettie was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards, her kids and grandkids, and family pets.

 

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad, Atlanta Christian Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta
