Virgil W. Shepherd, 74, of Heyworth, Illinois, passed away at 10:22 P.M. Friday, November 2, 2018, at his home in Heyworth, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at the Chat N Chew, Heyworth, Illinois, with Rev. Chuck Anthony officiating. A meal will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Heyworth, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shepherd was born June 19, 1944, in Lytleville, Illinois, to Harold and Ethel Hinthorne Shepherd. He married Aleta J. Arnold on September 30, 1963, in Heyworth, Illinois. She survives in Heyworth.

Virgil is also survived by his two sons, David (Eva) Shepherd and Jeff Shepherd all of Heyworth; one daughter, Penny (Jimmy) Boston of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jennifer (Don) Klaus; Mike (Jennifer) Shepherd; Dan Shepherd; Jon (Lacey) Shepherd; and Brad (Ashley) Shepherd; James Dean Boston; Jesse Lawrence Boston; Jennifer Lynn Boston; Josh Matthew Boston; Jasmine Joleen Boston; Journey Nicole Boston; and Jessica Marie Boston; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Arizona; four brothers, Donald Shepherd of Bloomington, Tuffy (Lily) Shepherd of Clinton, Russell (Val) Shepherd of Philippe, WV, and Butch (Lisa) Shepherd of Missouri; and one sister, Phyllis of Clinton.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie Shepherd and one daughter, Carol Ann Shepherd.

He was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church, Heyworth, Illinois.
