Wayneth L. Roberts, 86, of Monticello, passed away at 1:35 a.m., September 13, 2018 at his residence.

 

Wayneth was born September 2, 1932 in Faubush, KY the son of Leonard and Flossie (Cain) Roberts. He married Mary ‘Marlene’ Hord on October 9, 1953 in Bement, IL.

 

Wayneth is survived by his wife, Mary ‘Marlene’ Roberts of Monticello; daughters, Linda Mumm (Fred) of Homer and Diane Dyar of Champaign; grandchildren, Melissa Plotner (Chris), Angela Kamradt (Chris), and Justin Dyar; great granddaughters, Avery Kamradt and Ella Plotner. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sylvia Taylor and Lorene Ard and 2 infant sisters Gertrue and Pauline.

 

Wayneth retired from ADM in Decatur. As a young boy he was baptized in Fishing Creek in Somerst, KY. In later years he was a faithful member of the Bement Baptist Church. Wayneth served in the Illinois National Guard and when they called him up to the U.S. Army they sent him to the Area Food Service School in Fort Sheridan, IL. He was discharged as a Sergeant from the U.S. Army National Guard in 1953. Wayneth enjoyed animals, birds, and word search books.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, with Pat Tieman officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bement Township Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bement Baptist Church, Piatt County Humane Society, or an organization of the donor’s choice.
