Charles Robert McGuire

Charles Robert McGuire, 95, a life-long resident of Macon County, died July 31, 2018 after a brief illness.
 
“Charlie” was born in Maroa, Illinois to Elwood and Margaret McGuire on July 27, 1923. He graduated from Maroa High School in 1940. In 1943, he married Harriet Miller of Latham, a marriage that continued for nearly 73 years. Together, Charlie and Harriet founded a farm in Warrensburg, where they would spend the next 60 years together.
 
At his request, Charlie only wanted to be remembered as a retired Macon County farmer.
 
Charles is survived by his children, Ann Edgecombe (John) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Richard McGuire (Jan Smith) of Union Pier, Michigan; his grandchildren, Jason Edgecombe (Kathryn), Adam Edgecombe (Laura), Bly McGuire (Jimmie Sue), and Lyndsey Denton (Ryan); great-grandchildren James, Miller, and Madelyn Edgecombe, Holden Edgecombe, and Rory Denton; extended family and friends including Tom and Cathy Howell, Roger and Karen Edgecombe, Gloria and Clay Colebar, Sandra Brooks, and Melanie McGuire. He joins his wife Harriet; eldest son Charles Thomas McGuire; grandson Thomas Allen McGuire; and sisters Annalou Hensey and Dorothy Braden, who preceded him in death.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Allen McGuire Memorial Scholarship Fund and Illini Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home from 5:00–7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Illini Church, Warrensburg, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, nephews Jerry Burns, Steve Braden, Ron Braden, and Tom Howell.
