Dean C. Riley

Dean C. Riley, 90, of Monticello, passed away at 8:39 p.m., July 19, 2018 at his residence.
 
Dean was born April 15, 1928 in Monticello, IL the son of Wayne and Irma (Oldfield) Riley. He married Elizabeth C. ‘Betty’ Stoerger on June 26, 1948 in Bement. She passed away June 27, 1995. He married Carol Sue Klaska on February 6, 1999.
 
Dean is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Riley of Monticello; sons, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Riley of Monticello, Dean ‘Chuck’ Riley (Kathy) of DeLand, John ‘Kim’ Riley (Debbie) of Westpoint, IN, George W. Riley (Mary) of Monticello, Rodney J. Riley (Josie) of Belvedere; daughters, Sandra K. Wright (Laddie) of Bement, Cheryl M. Thaler (Ted) of Monticello, Ruth Ann Tracy (Terry) of Rochester, MN; stepson, Brett Shields (Amy) of Hermatige, TN; stepdaughters, Kimberly Sims (Mike) of Argenta and Terri Green (Tim) of Farmer City; 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son Joseph Kevin Riley, and sister Thelma Williams.
 
Dean was a farmer and he also worked at Growmark, Inc. for 19 years, General Cable for 10 years, Monticello Grain, Monticello Bus Service, and Mormon Feeds. Dean served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-1949. He was a member of the St. Philomena Catholic Church, Piatt County Farm Bureau, National and State Landrace Association, 4-H leader and youth council member, American Legion, Haneline Club, and the Hardee’s Geezer Club.
 
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 23, 2018 at the St. Philomena Catholic Church of Monticello with Fr. Bruce Lopez officiating. Interment will be in Bement Township Cemetery.
 
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Philomena Catholic Church or an organization of the donor’s choice.
