Harold E. Bateman, 87, of Mansfield, Illinois, passed away at 6:57 A.M., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his residence.

 

There will be a gathering for family and friends at Harold’s house, 1284 E 3000 N Road, Mansfield, Illinois, from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Saturday, July 21, 2018. Memorials may be made to the Northern Piatt Fire Protection District or Martha’s Cupboard Food Pantry, Mansfield, Illinois. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Mansfield, Illinois, assisted the family with arrangements.

 

Harold was born on October 21, 1930, in Mansfield, Illinois, a son of Layton and Marie Harper Bateman. He married Nell F. Wienke on September 4, 1949, in Centerville, Illinois. She survives in Mansfield, Illinois.

 

He is also survived by his son, Neil Bateman of Mansfield, Illinois; daughter, Norma Wesley of Monticello, Illinois; two grandchildren, Derek Bateman of Mansfield, Illinois, and Dustin (Jenny) Bateman of Mansfield, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Steele Bateman and Opal Bateman; brother, Paul (Kathy) Bateman of Fisher, Illinois; and sister, Mildred (Dave) Truitt of the Denver, Colorado area.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, B Wesley.

 

Harold was a farmer and a semi-truck driver. He was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church and the Piatt County Farm Bureau.
