Darrell Cameron

Darrell W. Cameron, 72, Heyworth, passed away on Monday (July 2, 2018) at his home.
 
Darrell was born July 22, 1945, in Bluford, the son of Archie and Mary (Kirkpatrick) Cameron. He married Susan Hall on May 11, 1991, in Bloomington.
 
Darrell was a 1963 graduate of Webber Township High School. While in high school, Darrell played on his high school basketball team and worked for Osborn’s Grocery Store, delivering groceries to customers in and around Bluford.
 
In 1964, Darrell moved to Bloomington and started working as a mechanic at Johnny Martin Chevrolet and later at Barker Motors. He later went to work as a service adviser for Rebbec Pontiac Buick in Normal.
 
Darrell started his lawn mowing and snow removal business in 1992. Darrell was always glad to help his customers at any time with any odd jobs.
 
Darrell retired from mowing to devote full time to his devoted wife (Susan) and beloved pet Sadie. He worked right by his wife’s side in their farming operation.
 
Darrell was most happy making his handmade trivets then gifting them to friends and family on special occasions. He also loved spending time in his vegetable gardens, trap shooting, alongside his wife and beloved pet, friends and family.
 
Darrell is survived by his wife, Susan, Heyworth; beloved pet, Sadie, at home; two sons, Darren Cameron, Garland, Texas, and Brian Cameron, Leland; three grandchildren, Courtney, Ian and Eli; and two sisters, Audrey Wood, Bloomington and Myra Warner, Mount Vernon.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents and stepfather, Walter Scott; brothers-in-law, Walter Wood and Andrew Warner.
 
Darrell’s visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. His graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at McLean Cemetery, McLean.
