Kurt Powell

Kurt Powell, 57, of Farmer City, passed away at 12:48 p.m. Sunday (June 17, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
 
His visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation with inurnment at a later date in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
 
Kurt was born Sept. 14, 1960, in Bloomington, the son of Loren A. and Betty Reinitz Powell. He married Diane Butler and later Denise Northcut.
 
Surviving are his parents, Loren and Betty Powell, Colfax; companion, JoAnne Fulton, Farmer City; children, Jayme Johnson, Bloomington; Dr. Justin (Nicole) Powell, Tremont; and Bryce Powell, Chicago; stepchildren, Lyndsi (Lloyd) Campbell, Anchor, and Justin Kelly, Colfax; grandchildren, Taylor, Layla, and Kaylyn Powell and Cohen Johnson; stepgrandchildren, Cameron Kelly, Tanner Campbell and Brianna and Braxton Kelly; sister, Kathy (Stan) Mercer, Urbana; and brother, Kevin (Karen) Powell, Colfax.
 
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and granddaughter, Keira Johnson.
 
Kurt graduated for Octavia High School in 1978 and was active in the FFA and 4-H. He worked in the agriculture and fertilizer industry. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved the sport of golf.
 
Kurt loved his family and was a good Pa to his grandchildren.
