Mary 'Mickey' Nell Newberry

Mary “Mickey” Nell Newberry, 95, of Clinton, formerly of Farmer City, passed away at 4:43 P.M. Friday (June 15, 2018), at Liberty Village in Clinton.
 
Mickey’s celebration of life will be Monday, June 18, 1-2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Clinton, IL. Per her wishes and desire to advance medical science, her body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois, in Chicago. 
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Church, American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
 
Mickey was born June 15, 1923 in Donnellson, IL to David “Lloyd” and Helen “Lucille” Lewey.
 
Surviving are son, Shawn (Cathy) Newberry Clinton; grandchildren, Stacy (Andre) Kirksey Murfreesboro, TN; Angela Newberry Clinton; Christopher (Kandis) Massey Morton; Jessica (Matt) Harrison Bloomington; and Zach Newberry Clinton; and seven great grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; step father Ralph Fann; brother David Lewey and sister Arvella “Arkie” Zagar.
 
After High School, Mickey worked the night shift as a telephone operator in Farmer City and later was employed by the Urbana school district. She served in various capacities, achieving comptroller before retiring at age 55.
 
She was an avid Gardener, raising many vegetables, herbs and flowers. She loved to cook and came up with many unique dishes for the family to try.
 
She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and lunches with a special group of women. She will be greatly missed.
