William A. Gentry 88 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 1:35 PM June 3, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:30 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to Weldon Springs Veterans’ Point.

 

William was born November 27, 1929 in Clinton, IL the son of Fairris and Carrie (Isaacs) Gentry. He married Ida Ellen Thoms October 22, 1972 in Clinton, Il. She passed away June 30, 2008.

 

Survivors include his children: Jason William (Heather Alexander) Gentry, Clinton, IL; and Sara Jo Gentry, Clinton, IL; brother, Larry (Mary Ellen) Gentry, Dahinda, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, and 1 brother.

 

William was a retired Sheet Metal Worker and member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local #1. He also worked in Heating and Cooling and did body work. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his family.
