Dallas L. Knoy

Dallas L. Knoy, 97, of Chestnut, passed away Thursday (May 24, 2018) at Vonderleith Nursing Home, Mount Pulaski.
 
Dallas was born in Logan County and married to Corlynn L Baldwin for 67 years. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Robert; and his sister, Betty.
 
He is survived by his four children, Dan (Miriam) Knoy, Danvers; Roger (Sheri) Knoy, Clinton; Rhonda (Jay) Mattern, Mount Pulaski; and Sandy (Tony) Schlosser, Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
 
Dallas was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps while stationed at a base near Nome, Alaska. He was a lifelong resident of Chestnut, a member of the American Legion and enjoyed saluting the flag every day.
 
He was a legacy member of the Chestnut Men's Club and had served with the Chestnut Volunteer Fire Department. He was a longtime member of Clinton Assembly of God Church, Clinton.
 
Dallas worked at and retired from Decatur Caterpillar.
 
He loved getting together with his family and friends, especially if there was a fish fry involved. An avid fisherman all of his life, he was a mentor to many aspiring fishermen and was a self-proclaimed expert in the art of crappie fishing.
 
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clinton Assembly of God Church with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m.
 
Dallas was known and loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Memorials can be made to the Mount Pulaski American Legion and Leader Dogs for the Blind.
