Donald McCool

 Donald B. McCool, 91, of Decatur, Illinois passed away 2:50 A.M. May 17, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.
 
Services will be 11 AM, Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson and Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating.  Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the funeral home.
 
Memorials may be directed to the Forsyth United Methodist Church.
 
Don was born January 31, 1927, in Macon Co., IL the son of Bert and Leda (Lanter) McCool. He married Betty J. Massey on November 4, 1944, in Keokuk, IA.
 
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Betty J. McCool, Decatur, IL; children:  Judy Query, Sandy Davenport, Barb Young (Richard), and Brad McCool (Teresa); 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Margaret McCool; 1 son; 1 daughter, 1 granddaughter, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 son-in-law, and 1 infant brother.
 
Don was a lifetime farmer.  He owned Belgian Draft Horses and was a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation of America.  When he was no longer able to keep his horses on his farm, he kept his horses in Arthur, IL and formed many relationships in Arthur with the Amish community.  Don was a member of the Forsyth United Methodist Church and was on several boards.  He was a past Macon Co. Fair Board member, past Cisco Elevator Board member, and past Hickory Point Twp. Board Trustee.  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to their sporting events.
