Thomas R. Young

Thomas R. Young, 79, of Saybrook, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:45 P.M., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Illinois, surrounded by his family. 
 
His visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Wesbein United Methodist Church, Saybrook, Illinois, with Pastor Wayne Giermann officiating. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 17, 2018, also at the church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Saybrook, Illinois.
 
Memorial donations may be made to the U of I Livestock Judging Team; Wish Bone Canine Rescue, Bloomington, Illinois; or Ridgeview Athletics. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Saybrook, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
 
Thomas was born January 21, 1939, in Bondville, Illinois, to George and Lola Bowman Young. He married Madonna Ninmer in August of 1960. He later married Sharon Tomlinson in November of 1982, in Saybrook, Illinois, she survives.
 
He is also survived by his son, Steven Young of El Paso, Illinois; daughters, Susan (David) Baker of Arrowsmith, Illinois, and Veronica Young of Colfax, Illinois; stepson, Matthew Hall of Bellevue, Illinois; stepdaughter, Shannon Croft of Seymour, Illinois; sister, Barbara Jean Lemke of Gifford, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and special cat, Morgan.
 
He was preceded by his stepson, Jason Hall; brother, Donald; and sister, Martha.
 
Thomas was a lifelong farmer and livestock producer in the rural Saybrook area. He owned and operated Young’s Catering for over 30 years. He was an U of I Alumni, avid fan of all Illini sports and Ridgeview athletics. He was a loving husband; father; stepfather; brother; grandfather; great-grandfather; and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
