Ronald Martin 79 of Clinton, Illinois passed away at 3:30 PM May 13, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 6 – 8 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the National Association for Amateur Radio, ARRL, 225 Main St., Newton, CT  06111, in memory of K9BJJ, Ron Martin, Advanced Class Operator.

 

Ronald was born February 16, 1939, in Charleston, IL, the son of Uriel and Wilma (Butler) Martin. He married Katherine Schaible January 1, 1960, in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Katherine Martin, Clinton, IL; daughters, Debra Martin, Clinton, IL; Janice (Richard) Rethorst, Benton, IL; grandchildren: Christina Fenton, Weldon, IL; Sheryl (Cheree) Kauffman, Sullivan, IL; Andrea Landers, Decatur, IL; Beth Anne Mitchell, Normal, IL; Heather Mitchell, Lebanon, TN; and Anthony Mitchell, Benton, IL; and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Martin, Clinton, IL; and Charles Martin, Sr., Mapleton, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Son, Steven Martin.

 

Ronald was a 1957 graduate of Clinton Community High School.  Ronald retired from General Electric on July 1, 1994, with 34 years of service.  Ronald was an Amateur Radio Advance Class Operator, K9BJJ.  He mentored many new operators in obtaining their “Ham” licenses.  Ronald enjoyed traveling in his RV and playing cards with friends and family.
