Chester Donovan Henry

Chester Donovan Henry, age 86, of Le Roy, IL, died at 10:38 a.m. on April 28, 2018, at Liberty Village, 
Le Roy, IL.
 
His visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the Le Roy Christian Church, followed by his funeral at 11 a.m. The minister will be Jeff Mayfield. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy with military rites accorded. There will be a Masonic service. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, is in charge of arrangements.
 
He was born October 7, 1931, in Thomasboro, IL, the son of L. Earl and Anna Neal Henry. He married Nellie Davis on March 15, 1951, in Clinton, IL. They were married 67 years. She survives.
 
Other survivors include their children, William (Jennifer) Henry, Sherman, IL; LaWanda (Rod) Matson, 
Le Roy, IL; Steve Henry, Mason City, IL; Keith Henry, Le Roy, IL; and Kristi (Donald) Henry-Craig, Le Roy, IL; grandchildren, Kathryn (Lance) Dockins, Edmond, OK; Cory Henry, Sherman, IL; Regan Henry, Le Roy, IL; and Donovan Craig, Le Roy, IL; great-grandchildren, Kaleo and Kaden Dockins, Edmond, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by one brother, John T. (Evelyn) Henry, Farmer City, IL.
 
Chester was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William N. Henry. 
 
Chester was a retired Illinois State Police Lieutenant, a retired IRS employee, and former LeRoy police officer until his final retirement in 2003. He was also a member of the Route 66 Hall of Fame and internationally published author of the book, Route 66, My Home Away From Home.
 
He was a member of the Le Roy Christian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 221 and Ruel Neal Post 79, American Legion, Le Roy.

Chester was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose family and friends will miss him dearly, but they know he is reuniting and celebrating with loved ones in heaven, his new “home away from home.”
