Thomas E. Owens, 98 of Clinton, IL passed away 1:27 PM, April 10, 2018 at Hawthorne Inn, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 2 PM, Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Texas Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 1 – 2 PM, Monday at the Texas Christian Church, Clinton, IL. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Texas Christian Church, DeWitt County Friendship Center or American Cancer Society.

 

Thomas was born May 26, 1919 in Clinton, IL the son of Edward and Lacy (Fishel) Owens. He married Ruth A. Buchanan September 29, 1939 in Palmyra, MO. She passed away January 29, 1998.

 

Survivors include his children: Joyce (Terry) Ahlheim, California, Connie (Phil) Brown, Clinton, IL; 4 grandchildren: Lisa (Jim) Polston, Eugene, Oregon, Thom W. Miller, Clinton, IL, Sheri (Lance) McMillan, Home, WA, David (Jennifer) Ahlheim, Los Altos, CA; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters; Dorothy Pettit, Waco, TX, and Nellie Howerton, Clinton, IL.

 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

 

Thomas retired as an engineer from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 43 years of service.

He served his country during WW II as a Navy Signalman in the South Pacific. He loved motorcycles, boating, and gardening.
