Joyce L. Stanepher, 82, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away at 11:41 A.M., Monday, April 9, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois. Private family services will be at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with Pastor Eric Swanson officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. 

 

Memorials may be made to the Le Roy Emergency Ambulance Service or the American Cancer Society.

 

Joyce was born on October 16, 1935, in Blue Island, Illinois, a daughter of Clarence & Loretta Holste Duey. She married Jack Stanepher Sr. on October 24, 1953, in Harvey, Illinois. He passed away on July 26, 2003.

 

She is survived by her son, Jack (Debbie) Stanepher Jr. of Kentland, Indiana and daughter, Vicki (Neil) Ehlers of Le Roy, Illinois; grandchildren, Neil Ehlers III; Jennifer (Greg) Craner; Emily Ehlers; Nicole Johnson; Michael Pierson; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Kenneth (Dolores) Duey of Crown Point, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

 

Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Le Roy, Illinois. She was a very talented poet and one of her poems was published in the Library of Congress. Joyce was an avid oil painter. She was a faithful follower of Jesus.
