Dr. Robert C. Kurka

 Dr. Robert C. Kurka, 64, passed away at 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.
 
Robert was born on June 6, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, IA; son of Charles and Vera (Faltus) Kurka. He married Beverley Petersen on June 1, 1974, at Akron, IA. She survives him.
 
Surviving Robert are his children: Holly (Randy) Zehr, Lara (Josh) O’Donoghue and Amber (Lee Funke) Kurka, 14 grandchildren, and one sister, Sherry (Brian) Pierson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary.
 
Robert was a professor of Theology in Church and Culture at Lincoln Christian University with a Doctorate in Ministry. Robert was a member and elder at Lincoln Christian Church played violin in a string quartet, and was involved in community theatre. He taught around the world in Asia, Africa, and Haiti.
 
Service for Robert will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Lincoln Christian University Chapel, Lincoln, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, also at Lincoln Christian University Chapel. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service. 
 
Memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the Dr. Robert C. Kurka Scholarship Endowment, Lincoln Christian Church, Safe Haven Hospice, or Pioneer Bible Translators. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home is entrusted with services.
