Lois Sablotny, 102, passed away at 2:27 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Copper Creek Cottages in Lincoln, IL.

 

Lois was born on July 13, 1915, in Campbellsville, KY; daughter of Butler J. and May (Reed) Biggs. She married Charles J. Sablotny on January 27, 1934, in Pekin, IL. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2000.

 

Surviving Lois are her children: Carolyn Gerling of Bloomington, IL and Judith (Larry) Braughton of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren: Broch (Jackie) Gerling of Grandville, IL, Brihta Gerling of Bloomington, IL, John (Stephanie) Braughton of Maysville, KY, and Jason Braughton of Olive Branch, MS; great-grandchildren: Tessa Gerling, Asher Braughton, Allison Braughton, and Kaylin Braughton. 

 

Mrs. Sablotny was associated with her husband in business for many years in Lincoln. Upon retirement, she served with him in lay-missions, working in Lebanon, Belgium, Germany, France, Sri Lanka, Alaska, Haiti, and Egypt.

 

A private family graveside was held on Friday, March 30, 2018, at New Union Cemetery with Rev. Darren Palmer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lois’ name to missions of the church of the donor’s choice. Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL.
