E. LaVerle Carrington, 87 of Maroa, IL, passed away 7:40 PM March 31, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services with Military Honors will be 11 AM, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Maroa United Methodist Church, Maroa, IL with Rev. Mary Alice Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM, Thursday at the church.

 

Memorials may be directed to Maroa United Methodist Church or to the Christian Village, Lincoln, IL.

 

LarVerle was born September 2, 1930 in James, TX the son of Emmett and Thelma (Page) Carrington. He married Wendy Takemori December 28, 1974 in Las Vegas, NV.

 

Survivors include his wife, Wendy Carrington, Maroa, IL; children: Sherri (George) McDowell, Kansas City, MO; Terry (Sherry) Carrington, Granbury, TX; Cary (Karen) Carrington, Burleson, TX; and Edwin (Kendal) Carrington, Plymouth, IN; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

 

LaVerle was veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He worked in the Deaf Ministries all of his life and as a Pastor for the United Methodist Church for several years. He held an honorary Doctorate and was an interpreter for the deaf. He enjoyed fishing for catfish.
