Edward Floyd Kiper, 73, of Le Roy, passed away 9:35 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 22, 2018) at his home.

 

His funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Le Roy. Pastor Eric Swanson will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Le Roy or the Le Roy Emergency Ambulance Service.

 

He was born March 10, 1944, in Normal, to Floyd Samuel and June LuDeen Leach Kiper. He married Janice Kay Reimer on July 20, 1968, in Meadows. She survives in Le Roy.

 

Also surviving are one son, David Edward (Christina) Kiper, Bloomington; one daughter, Laura Janice (David) Myers, Normal; five grandchildren, Logan and Mason Kiper and Tyler, Isabelle and Cole Myers; one sister, Cheryl (Mike) Myers, Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Edward was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea from 1965 to 1967.

 

He worked for Eureka Williams, International Tapetronics Manufacturing (3M), Diversified Advertising, and Guardian West as a tool and die, maker.

 

Edward was a member of First United Methodist Church, Le Roy, since 1968. He was an assistant Boy Scout master and a member of Elmo F. Hill American Legion Post 291, Lexington.

 

He loved the outdoors, camping, boating, water skiing, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He could figure out how to fix almost anything. He loved classic cars, especially Chevrolets.

 

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
