Connie Jean (Doty) Travis

Connie Jean (Doty) Travis, 79, of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Chestnut, passed away on February 22, 2018, in her home surrounded by family.
 
She was born May 21, 1938, the oldest daughter of Glen and Dorothy (Puyear) Doty of Cowden, Illinois. She graduated from Cowden High School, class of 1955, and then went to work at Illinois Bell Telephone Co., Decatur, Illinois.
 
She was married to Richard Travis on November 22, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Herrick, Illinois. They lived and raised their children on a farm near Chestnut, Illinois, and also enjoyed spending the winters at their home in Ft. Myers, Florida. After his death on August 12, 2012, she moved to Mt. Pulaski to be near her daughter. Her family was precious to her, and she was an avid gardener. She was retired from the post office and worked in real estate.
 
Visitation will be held at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral home in Mt. Pulaski on Monday, February 26, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 pm. Memorial services will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut where she was a member, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Laenna Cemetery in Chestnut.
 
She is survived by her children: Rick (Kim) Travis of Cowden, IL., Lori (Pat) Przykopanski of Mt. Pulaski, IL., Mark Travis of Edwardsville, IL.; grandchildren: Jared (Shellie) Travis, Meghan (Ciara) Travis, Brittany (Seth) Barnes, Jerilee (Matt) McQuilling, Kaitlyn (Ben) Viorel, Kyle, Caleb, Chloe Przykopanski, Zachary, Jason, and Nick Travis; great grandchildren: Dylan, Casey, and Brody Gaddis; Brady, Ava, and Abby McQuilling; Tucker, Audrey, and Clara Travis; step-grandchildren: Sean and Tommy Murphy; godchildren: Sadie Smith, Roseanne Siegal, and Emmett Kilhoffer; sisters: Alta May Fry, Glenna Knapp, Carol (Lyle) Barnes, Vickie (Dave) Yakey. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Jerry Travis; grandson Justin Travis; great-grandsons: Brinnon and Griffin Gaddis; foster son Rob Smith.
