Linus G. “Lynn” Bruning, 92, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away at 2:37 P.M., Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M., Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Mary’s Church of Downs with Father Dustin Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. A prayer service will start at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with visitation from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. following the prayer service.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church of Downs.

 

Mr. Bruning was born June 7, 1925, in McLean County, Illinois, to Elmer and Veronica P. Roell Bruning. He married Dora Sidebottom on July 8, 1946, in Bloomington, Illinois. She passed away June 12, 2011.

 

He is survived by his six sons, Garry (Linda) Bruning, Danny (Vickie) Bruning all of Le Roy, Illinois, Tom (Shelley) Bruning of Downs, Illinois, Bob (Stephanie) Bruning, Jeff (Courtney) Bruning, and Larry (Leslie) Bruning all of Le Roy, Illinois; four daughters, Janet (John) Toohill and DeeAnn (Mark) Wade all of Le Roy, Illinois, Linda (Greg) Cassidy of Bloomington, Illinois, and Laura (Dan) Nolan of Kewanee, Illinois; forty-two grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Kenny & Richard Bruning; one daughter, Gail Bruning; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers; and one sister.

 

Linus was a farmer and a member of St. Mary’s Church of Downs.
