Robert E. McMath

Robert E. McMath, 95, of Clinton, passed away 4:15 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 15, 2018) at Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections, Pekin.
 
His service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
 
Memorials may be directed to the DeWitt County Museum.
 
Robert was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Hartsburg, the son of James Russell and Elsie (Gehre) McMath. He married Phyllis Wunsch on Feb. 14, 1954, in Peoria.
 
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis McMath, Clinton; children, Karen (Dr. William) Johnson, Morton; Kevin (Barbara) McMath, Clinton; Kraig (Annette) McMath, Clinton; seven grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Moon, Laura (Jason) Osborn, Kade McMath, Kolton McMath, Kaci (Joshua) Carr, Kelbey McMath, and Alek McMath; and five great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
 
Robert farmed for 64 years and loved his family. He was an avid farming collector enthusiast. Robert was the past director of the Farm Bureau, past tax assessor of Barnett Township, a 4-H leader, and director of the DeWitt County Museum for many years. Robert was also a member of the Land of Lincoln Antique Tractor and Engine Club.
