Elmo C. Munster, 77, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at 2:28 P.M., Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, Illinois.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Le Roy Christian Church, Le Roy, Illinois with Jeff Mayfield and Joe Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the church and from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Le Roy Christian Church or the Le Roy Emergency Ambulance Service.
Elmo was born October 20, 1940, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Harry P. and Arladene Gilmore Munster. He married Mary Lou Stocker on September 16, 1962, in Le Roy, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lou of Le Roy, Illinois; children, Rhonda (Bill) Green of Le Claire, Iowa, Rodney Munster and Denise (Rod) Noe all of LeRoy, Illinois; grandchildren, Darcie Scott; Danny (Amanda) Scott; Craig (Ashley) Noe; Brent (Hanna) Noe; Dalton Noe; Kaleigh Munster; and Jimilynn (Dalton) Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Colbie Scott, Konner Anderson, Hayden Scott, and Harper Noe; brothers, Ronald, Wayne and Richard (Patti) Munster all of Le Roy, Illinois; sisters, Betty (David) Habben of Erie, Illinois, and Barbara Munster of Lincoln, Illinois; sister-in-law, Pam Munster of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother, John Munster.
Elmo graduated from Le Roy High School in 1958.
He currently worked for State Farm for the past 17 years. Prior to that, he worked on the Rust/Perring/Swartz farms for 41 years.
Elmo enjoyed volunteering at the Le Roy Emergency Ambulance Service as an ambulance driver for 30 years. He was a Le Roy 4-H Club leader and he enjoyed keeping stats for the Le Roy High School Football team. He was a member of the Le Roy Christian Church and served as a deacon and Sunday School secretary.
Elmo enjoyed his family and anyone that he came in contact with. He loved watching his grandkids and great-grandson play sports, along with camping and traveling. Anyone that knew him knows he always had a Dove chocolate to hand them.
