Robert "Pick" Shanle

Robert "Pick” Shanle, 87, passed away at 10:53 p.m. on January 23, 2018, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.
 
Robert was born on January 20, 1931, in Mt. Pulaski, IL; son of Robert Emmett and Alma (Erlenbush) Shanle. He married Donna L. Hild on January 14, 1951, in Lincoln, IL. She preceded him in death September 24, 1994.
 
Also surviving one daughter, Vickie (David) Dunham of Lincoln, two sons, Glenn (Terri) Shanle of Lincoln, Daniel (Cathy) Shanle of Maiden, NC, one brother Larry Shanle of Mexico MO., three sisters, Wanda (Doug) Peterson of Stromsburg, NE., Kay (Richard) Snyder of Lincoln, IL. Connie (Jeff) Laatsch of Mt. Pulaski, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
 
Robert was a United States Marine veteran, who got the chance to be a part of the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church and was the president of Christian Homes for 21 years. Over the years, he gave over 37 gallons of blood, he received awards for everything that he had done for the American Disabilities Act, and he enjoyed going to Wal-Mart.
 
Services for Robert will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Lincoln Christian Church with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial at Steenbergen Cemetery will follow the service where full military rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert’s name to Lincoln Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
