John F. Baylor, Sr.

John F. Baylor, Sr., 71 of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Weldon, Illinois passed away 7:00 AM January 13, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.
 
Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Weldon United Methodist Church, Weldon, IL with Pastor Doug Lowery and Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.
 
Memorials may be directed to the Weldon United Methodist Church.
 
John was born July 25, 1946, in Bloomington, IL the son of Oscar and Irene (Storey) Baylor. He married Margaret Dressler April 25, 1965, in Weldon, IL
 
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Baylor, Decatur, IL; children: Nancy (John) Connett, Avon, IN; Rev. John (Anita) Baylor, Jr., Fort Branch, IN; Gary (Carrie) Baylor, Decatur, IL; Peggy Baylor (Matthew Jenkins) , Decatur, IL; 11 grandchildren; siblings: Hester (Robert) Kingston, Monticello, IL; LaVon Day, Champaign, IL; and Oscar “Grant” (Linda) Baylor, Decatur, IL.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Rapp.
 
John worked at various body shops in Clinton, Decatur, and Bloomington, IL. He taught auto mechanics at Richland C.C. and taught Autobody at the Decatur Area Vocational Center. He lived his faith and was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church. At church, he was an usher, High School Sunday School Teacher, and a United Methodist Youth Fellowship Director. John enjoyed Contemporary Christian Music, but most of all spending time with his family.
