Myrta Smith, 91, of Arrowsmith, Illinois, passed away at 11:50 A.M., Monday, January 1, 2018, at Heritage Health, Gibson City, Illinois.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Arrowsmith, Illinois. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Witt-Webber-Carrell Legion Ladies Auxiliary Arrowsmith, P.O. Box 77, Arrowsmith, Illinois, 61722, or the American Heart Association.

 

Myrta was born March 18, 1926, in Arrowsmith, Illinois to Hobart and Eliza Gill Warren. She married Roy Wayne Smith on June 18, 1948. He preceded her in death March 24, 2015.

 

Survivors include son, Warren “Twig” (Vicki Rae) Smith, Noblesville, Indiana; daughter, Vicki Lynn Smith, Princeton, Illinois; grandson, Todd (Halle) Smith, Carmel, Indiana; granddaughter, Amy (Greg) Nowling, Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jackson Nowling, Jacob Smith and Reese Smith; sister, Joyce Satterfeal, Bloomington, Illinois; and special nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Bradley Warren and Perry Warren.

 

Myrta worked in Champaign during World War II. After Wayne came home from the service, they were married and lived in Arrowsmith where they farmed their entire lives. Myrta also worked for Owen Nursery, General Telephone, M & W Gear, Fannie Mae in Eastland Mall, and the IRS. She was a member of the Witt-Webber-Carrell Legion Ladies Auxiliary Arrowsmith for 66 years.
