James E. Gelsthorpe 81 of Waynesville, Illinois passed away 2:20 AM December 14, 2017, at his family residence, Waynesville, IL.

 

Services will be 12 Noon, Monday, December 18, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 Noon, Monday, December 18, 2017, at the funeral home.

James was born February 13, 1936, in Waynesville, IL the son of Jessie and Martha (McCallister) Gelsthorpe. He married Marsha L. Wright on December 16, 1961, in Clinton, IL. She passed away April 9, 2013. 

 

Survivors include his children, Rita Byrd, Russellville, KY; Randall Gelsthorpe, Waynesville, IL; Ricky Gelsthorpe, Waynesville, IL; 3 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-great-Grandchildren; and sisters: Mary Gelsthorpe, Lincoln, IL; and Ginny French, Lincoln, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 4 sisters, and one brother.

 

James proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Laborer’s Union in Bloomington, IL. He was a handyman that loved country and western music, fishing, singing, and especially, being with his family.
