Bette Cook 80 of Argenta, IL passed away 3:29 PM December 7, 2017, at Heritage Health, Mt. Zion, IL with her family at her side.

 

Private services will be held at Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Bette was born July 14, 1937, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Earnest and Edith (Meier) Bell. She married Donald Lee Cook June 30, 1956, in Decatur, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Donald Lee Cook, Argenta, IL; sons, Mark A. (Rosena) Cook, Argenta, IL and Lynn A. (Carol) Cook, Forsyth, IL; 7 grandchildren: Daniel (Mindy) Cook, Argenta, IL; Blake Cook, Argenta, IL; Sean Cook, Decatur, IL; Tony (Samantha) Knierim, California, MO; Stephen Barnes, Kansas City, MO; Alyson (Jacob) Martin, Decatur, IL; and Samantha Cook, Decatur, IL; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and very dear friends. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Lee Bell; daughter, Kimberly Suzanne (Cook) Barnes; and grandson, David Lee Cook.

 

Bette graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and retired from Kroger, Fairview Plaza, Decatur, IL. She was an avid bowler and die-hard Cubs fan. Bette loved to go gamble with her friends Betty Jean and Sharon. She loved to travel and followed her grandchildren in their sports during High School. Bette loved to shop! She would go with her friends Lisa and Joanne frequently. She was a military wife and traveled the world with her family. Bette loved her grandchildren very much and devoted herself to family and friends. Bette will be greatly missed but heaven gained an awesome angel.
