Dallas E. Harris

Dallas E. Harris, 71, of Clinton, passed away 1:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 7, 2017) at his home.
 
His graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, with Cody Monkman officiating. Military honors will follow. A celebration of life at the Eagles Lodge will be at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
 
Memorials may be directed to the ALS Association or Second Chance Pet Adoption.
 
Dallas was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Clinton, the son of Reo and Ruby (Smith) Harris. He married Betsy A. West on March 21, 1970, in Anna.
 
Survivors include his wife, Betsy A. Harris, Clinton; sons, Bret (Sherrie) Harris and Bart Harris, all of Clinton; grandchildren, Allie and Livie Sanders and Braden and Trevor Harris; great-grandson, Rylan Sanders; brother, Duane “Arkie” Harris, Clinton; brother-in-law, Andy (Veronica) West, Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Cox; and brother-in-law, Jim West.
 
Dallas retired from the Department of Natural Resources after 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and avid Cardinal fan. He became a member of the Eagles Lodge in 1974, attaining the status of Golden Eagle. He was a former commissioner of finance for the Clinton City Council. He loved his dogs, Bella the Queen and Toby.
