Dorothy J. Weidner, 93, of Heyworth, Illinois, passed away at 7:58 A.M., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. 

 

Her graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 6, 2017, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois with military rites accorded. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heyworth Public Library District. 

Dorothy was born December 21, 1923, in Heyworth, Illinois, to George and Viola Buckley Pendleton. She married Cecil Weidner on July 30, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany.

 

She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Schmidt of Denver, Colorado and Charlotte (Robert) O'Dea of Clinton, Illinois; one brother, Charles (Betty) Pendleton of Estero, Florida; niece, Lori (Deron) Penn; nephews, Bob (Debi) O'Dea and Mike (Lucia) Pendleton.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

 

Dorothy was a WWII Army veteran.  After her service, she worked as a Government Employee.  She was an avid genealogist.
