Johnny William Garrett, 81, of DeWitt, Illinois, formerly of Galesville, Illinois, passed away at 7:55 P.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care.

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois. His funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with his granddaughter, Megan Otto officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Johnny was born on March 1, 1936 in Mattoon, Illinois, a son of Paul and Blanche Sanders Garrett. He married Carolyn Joyce Babb on July 18, 1953 in Covington, Indiana. She passed away June 20, 1996.

 

He is survived by his children, Johnny E. (Teresa) Garrett of DeLand, Illinois; Karen (Russ) Pearl of Farmer City, Illinois; Tina (Brad) Myers of Neoga, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Johnny is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, parents and three brothers.

 

Johnny worked for Young Radiator in Mattoon, Illinois. He was a member of Laborers’ Local 703, Champaign, Illinois.

 

Johnny loved fishing, hunting and turtle hunting. He enjoyed his family and friends and the love of his life, Carolyn.
