Alice F. Polen

Alice F. Polen 67 of Decatur, Illinois passed away 12:25 AM August 11, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.
 
Services will be 10 AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor John Roberson officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Park, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the funeral home.
 
Alice was born October 11, 1949 in Tuscola, IL the daughter of Clint and Ruby (Walters) Hensley. She married Steve Polen November 1966.
 
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey S. Polen, Decatur, IL; three grandchildren: Heather (Brandon) Houser, DeWitt, IL; Brittany (Nicholas) Somers, Lindenwood, IL; and Ryan (Alyssa) Polen, Hudson, IL; four great-grandchildren:  Cheyenne, Cole, Aubrey, and Oliver; siblings: Barb Stone, Clinton, IL; and Mary Elizabeth Shaw, Clinton, IL; best friend: Vicki Jones, Decatur, IL; and special friend, Bud Conyers, Decatur, IL.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
 
Alice was an astonishing business woman. She was owner and operator of Polen’s Locker Plant from 1973-1985, owner and operator of Decatur Auto Auction from 1985-1997, and managed JSP Properties since 1997. Alice had a passion for volunteer work. She loved to help nursing and hospice patients at DMH Hospice. She also volunteered at Second Chance Pet Adoption, First Baptist Church, Clinton, IL, Glad Tidings, Decatur, IL, and Meals-on-Wheels. Alice had an unwavering Faith in God and was involved in many church activities. She had so much love for her family, friends and pets. Her family and friends were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Alice during her 67 years.
 
Alice would like you to know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, to a place she often dreamed about. Her new job is to be in the Glorious Kingdom where she will be surrounded by family and friends socializing, dancing, and laughing to her hearts content.
