Julia Ann "Julie" Dawson

Julia Ann "Julie" Dawson, 84, of Mahomet, IL, formerly of Mansfield, IL, passed away at 8:53 A.M., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at The Waterford at Bridle Brook, Mahomet, IL.
 
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 7, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, IL. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Inurnment will be in McCord Cemetery, Fullerton, IL. Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
 
Julie was born January 23, 1933 in Charter Grove, IL, a daughter of Earl and Susan Dorothy Westlake. She married Harley Beryle Dawson on June 18, 1950 in Champaign, IL. He passed away on December 30, 2011.
 
She is survived by her children, Connie (Tom) Hieronymus of Farmer City, IL; Vicki Oglesby of Farmer City, IL; Jeff (Mari) Dawson of Two Rivers, WI; Amy Dawson of Mansfield, IL; Laurie (Greg) Franklin of Farmer City, IL; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Marj Mowers; brothers, Milton Westlake and Melvin Westlake.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Orville Westlake, and son-in-law, Harvie Oglesby.
 
Julie was a dedicated homemaker for 25 years. After all of her children were born, she graduated from Parkland College, studying secretary work and literature. She went on to graduate from the U of I with a degree in advertising. She retired from the U of I Telecommunications Department.
 
One of Julie’s favorite pastimes was Saturday morning coffee with her dear friend, Kitter Dawson and close family and friends.
 
Julie was a member of the Ladies Aid of the former Cumberland-Presbyterian Church in DeWitt, IL. She loved traveling with Harley, being involved with her family, and was an avid reader.
