Kay Ann Schmid

Kay Ann Schmid, 65 of Waynesville, IL passed away 11:16 A.M. February 10, 2017 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.
 
Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
 
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital because of her love of children.
 
Kay was born February 18, 1951 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Roger and Wilma (Nichols) Sampson. She married Richard “Dick” Schmid February 8, 1969 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton, IL.
 
Survivors include her husband: Dick Schmid, Waynesville, IL; children: Travis (Andrea) Schmid, Clinton, IL; Trent (Paula) Schmid, Teutopolis, IL; and Misti (Doug) Tucker, Clinton, IL; grandchildren: Aaron Sams, Carson Schmid, Jordan Williams, Julia Schmid, Brylee Williams, Tanner Schmid, Tessa Defebaugh, Tatum Defebaugh; two sisters:  Carol (Jack) Sampson, Waynesville, IL and Karen TeVoert, Waynesville, IL; many nieces and nephews also survive.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Charles “Bud” Sampson and Duane “Duke” Sampson.
 
Kay was the previous leader of the Jimtown 4-H Club.  In 1993, she started Kay’s Collectibles at the Clinton Antique Mall, booth #41. Always looking for that special bargain, Kay loved going to auctions, garage sales and tag sales. Kay’s love for her family was more important than any special bargain.
