Robert Cowles, 81,of Green Valley, AZ, has passed January 9, 2017 at Peppi's Hospice in Tucson, AZ.. He leaves his wife, Betty, three children, Matthew, Roseville CA, Katie Long, Tucson AZ and Mark, Bloomington,IL, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

 

Bob was born in Clinton, IL.to Asa and Lulu Cowles. He was raised on the family farm and went to a one-room grade school in Creek Township. He attended Chaddock School for Boys in Quincy IL, where he found his love of singing. He married Betty Gawthorp May 9, 1958 in St John’s Catholic Church. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and sang in choir at St. John’s. Bob loved reading about the Civil War especially the Battle of Franklin, where his grandfather fought. Bob and Betty moved to Henderson NV in 1981.

 

He retired from the City of Henderson, and then moved to Green Valley in 2005 to be near family. Bob was a kind quiet, man who loved his family. He was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and celebrated their World Series win. He donated his body to Science Care in Phoenix. A Celebration of his Life was held at home
