Litta Mae Carter

Litta Mae Carter, 86 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:10 P.M. November 13, 2016 at Liberty Village, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to American Macular Degeneration Foundation or First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.

 

Litta Mae Perkey was born January 4, 1930 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Carl A. and Rosa Mae (Guffey) Perkey. She married Burnell Carter February 12, 1950 in Clinton, IL. He passed away August 14, 2003.

 

Survivors include her 2 sons: Weldon (Karlyn) Carter and Dennis Carter both of Clinton, IL; 2 grandsons: Robert (Catherine) Carter and Brett (Lyn) Carter both of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are three great grandchildren: Zoe Carter, Hoyt Carter and Leo Carter all of Bloomington, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother: Weldon Perkey.

 

Litta graduated from Clinton High School and attended Illinois State Normal University for two years, majoring in Home Economics.

 

Litta retired in 1991 as Head of Payroll after over forty years of service with Revere Copper and Brass/Corning; she was blessed with life-long friendships from her years at Revere. In her younger years, Litta enjoyed crocheting. After her eyesight was diminished due to macular degeneration, she spent many hours listening to books on tape. Throughout her life, Litta loved entertaining family and friends on holidays.

 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who provided loving attention to our mother; Jill Hull, Janet Meadors, Dora Alwood and Lisa Wrone.
