Patricia Tammen

Patricia Ann "Pat" Tammen, of Urbana, formerly of Farmer City, passed away peacefully Wednesday (June 22, 2016), at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Pat was born Aug. 4, 1935, in LeMars, Iowa. She married Virgil Dean Tammen on Nov. 20, 1955, in Craig, Iowa. He died Nov. 11, 1976.

 

Survivors include her sister, Oina VanderFeen; her daughter, Valorie Patricia (Steve) Curl, Forrest; her sons, Vance Virgil Tammen, Mission Viejo, Calif., and Alan John (Anna) Tammen, Urbana; her grandchildren, Matthew (Jayme) Curl, Jeffrey (Bridget) Curl, Zachary (Brittany) Tammen, Gregory (Rachel) Curl, Jacob (Kristi) Tammen and Michelle Curl; her great-grandchildren, Katy, Tyler, and Ellie Curl, Jesslynn Curl, Olivia Tammen and Mason Tammen; sister-in-laws, Ardis Rozell and Janice (Bill) Renken; one brother-in-law, Rodney (Rhonda) Tammen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldo and Isabella Baack; her brothers, Orville Baack and Emory Baack; her sister, Connie Baker; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Morgan; and her granddaughter, Yarra Tammen.

 

Pat graduated in 1953 from Milford High School, Milford, Iowa, where she was the class valedictorian and homecoming queen. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 55, Farmer City.

 

She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, quilt making, spending time with her grandchildren and always keeping up with their activities, traveling and volunteering for church events and at her Legion Post 55.

 

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a celebration of life beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2200 S. Philo Road, Urbana. Graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.
