Patrick Gerard "Pat" O'Donoghue, 61, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday (June 9, 2016) at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

As Pat requested, cremation rites have been accorded. His memorial gathering will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Father Laible officiating. Casual dress is requested. Burial will be at a later date.

Pat was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Lincoln, the son of Thomas Joseph and Agnes Catherine Alexander O'Donoghue. He married Judy Kay Bragg on July 19, 1974, in Lincoln.

Pat graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1973. He worked as a correctional officer in Pontiac and in Lincoln until his retirement in May 2010. He loved his job and truly looked forward to going to work very day.

Pat was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and always had a song, trick or joke to amuse them. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge 2708. He enjoyed being in the garage, auctions, fishing, hunting and football.

Surviving are his wife, Judy O'Donoghue, Lincoln; sons, Josh (Lara) O'Donoghue, Lincoln, and Patrick Nicolas "Nick" (Amy) O'Donoghue, Blomington; six grandchildren, Larissa O'Donoghue, Emma O'Donoghue, Wyatt O'Donoghue, Quincy O'Donoghue, Zu Zu O'Donoghue and Josiah O'Donoghue; siblings, Tom (Cyndi) O'Donoghue, Tinley Park; Mike (Mary) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; Denny (Marsha) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; John "Q Ball" (Gail) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; Ruth (Mike) Young, Lincoln; Kathy (Joe) Gleason, Lincoln; Daniel "Boone" (Marsha) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; William "Dick" (Myretta) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; Timmy (Shirley) O'Donoghue, Lincoln; and sister-in-law, Lynn O'Donoghue, Burtonview.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phillip "Punk" O'Donoghue.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
