Lois Mayberry

Lois J. Coates Mayberry, 89, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, formerly of Lincoln and Normal, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday (May 31, 2016) at Oskaloosa Care Center, Oskaloosa, Iowa.

 

Lois was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Lincoln, the daughter of Otis and Cora Wieber Coates. She married Wallace Forsythe Mayberry on Sept. 25, 1947, in Lincoln. He passed away on Oct. 18, 2010, after 62 years together.

 

Surviving Lois are her daughter, Janet Killam, Omaha, Neb.; her son, Steve (Debbie) Mayberry, Albia, Iowa; and her sister, Marian E. Haseley, Beason. Lois’ legacy also includes grandson, Michael P. (Jean Ann) Mayberry, Fremont, Iowa, and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Taylor Rea. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; and twin sister, Louise Davis.

 

She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1944. She was employed by Robeson’s in Champaign, General Telephone Co. in Bloomington and Black’s True Value in Kewanee.

 

Lois was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Normal.

 

Services for Lois will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Lois’ name to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
